The reorientation of economic development towards greater inclusion, reduced inequality and enhanced democracy stands as core
objectives in EU policies, particularly in fostering the ecological transition. Key priorities within the EU’s strategy include the European
Green Deal, the Europe Fit for the Digital Age, an economy that works for people and the Global Gateway.
EPOG-JM is a 2-year (120 ECTS) programme designed to contribute to these priorities. It is tailored to train a community of highly
employable economic experts and researchers, able to work with other disciplines and a range of sectors and stakeholders in
different political, social and regional contexts. Students are trained to design, implement and assess economic policies aiming at a
strongly sustainable “global bifurcation”. In particular, they acquire a global perspective on the (sociotechnical, socioeconomic and
socioecological) interdependencies among economic policies.
The students (45+ per intake) benefit from an integrated network of 11 partners across 7 countries. The programme also involves 40+
academic and non-academic associate partners worldwide, which cover the entire spectrum of programme fields, provide expertise
and internships, and host students during the final semester.
The curriculum equips students with complementary and interdisciplinary expertise. During Year 1, students concentrate on their
specialisation, determined by their chosen Major/Minor. Semester 3, spent in Paris, is designed to enhance the knowledge in their
Major and promote a shared understanding of the economic policy interdependencies. Semester 4 is dedicated to the Master's
thesis, drawing on experiences gained from professional internships or research lab engagements. The programme ends with the
"Master's conference”.
The programme is delivered in English (except Year 1 of Minor C4, taught in Portuguese). Students receive a joint degree from the
institutions on their pathway.
