Abstract:
This study explores the correspondence between German linguist Adolf Dirr (1867–1930) and Ossetian cultural activist Gappo Baev (1869–1939). Starting in 1926, Baev taught his native language at the Seminar for Oriental Studies in Berlin, exchanging letters with compatriots in exile and well-known scholars, including Adolf Dirr, whose letters are preserved in Baev’s personal archive. The article draws on unpublished materials from Baev’s archive, housed in the Berlin State Library (Prussian Cultural Heritage Collection).
