As part of the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were set by international
community. One of this SDGs is “Climate Action” which “aims to addressing the global and urgent challenge of climate change.
Mitigation measures against the consequences of Climate Change (CC) have been proposed within the framework of national
policies of
many countries. Nevertheless, there is lack of training regarding climate change and its consequences for specific professionals such
as farmers, livestock breeders, animal feed producers and members of cooperative associations. Furthermore, no equal opportunities
for training of interested parties in the agri-food sector exist in Cuba.
The project aims to develop training courses and on-the-field training for the above- mentioned target groups in order to develop their hard
skills on CC and raise their awareness to sustainable growth. In order to make these courses more attractive, also ICT tools will be incorporated.
In specific the project will aim to strengthen the competences of specific professionals in the agri-food sector (e.g. farmers, livestock breeders, animal feed producers), thus making them critical factors of change in promoting specific EU Green Deal or national strategies, as well as to promote the exchange of best practices among the partner countries. Competences will be related mainly to sustainable livestock production and farming under the constraints of CC. Targeted professionals are farmers in the field of animal production, members of cooperative associations, policy-makers and other professionals involved in livestock production like animal feed producers, etc.
