Isolation and preliminary characterization of Vvmyb3, a novel myb transcription factor in grape

MYB transcription factors are a family of regulatory proteins which affecte genes involved in several aspects of plant development. We isolated a R2R3 transcription factor from grapevine by 3'5' RACE. It shares homology with the myb subfamily 4 which includes repressors of genes of phenylpropanoid metabolism. Tobacco palnts were transformed with the gene and in transformants the expression of C4H was reduced.
