Abstract:
Los Angeles embodies one of the most important cinematic experiences, a place where it is possible to understand the “entire future geometry of the networks of human relations”. The screens of L.A. do not only explore and explain the work (language and figurative research) of the new American cinema but build a real city with a movie camera. L.A. itself becomes a spatial and cinematic derive, an authentic overplace, which overlaps with the whole United States. Although everybody knows L.A. as an extensive city, now we can read it as an aerial city encompassing also New York (from the point of view of cinema) as the new skyline of American culture.
