Communicating for Transitions in EUrope - New skills for public communication and participation in digital environment
Progetto According to a multi-level perspective, European public and political communication is a crucial element for developing an active
citizenship and building the European identity. This is confirmed by the EU guidelines that consider European communication as an
opportunity for cooperation and partnership building, a form of listening and dialogue with citizens, and a stimulus to build citizenship and
participation. Conforming to the European Commission’s priorities for 2021-2027, enhancing skills in this sector would provide European
citizens with trustworthy information and tools for tackling disinformation to better understand digital transitions effects in the hybrid
media system.
Within this context, in which digital resources represent an opportunity to combine education and participation, Com4t.EU defines
communication as the core of its activities. It proposes a dynamic and innovative way of teaching, that involves mainly and directly
students, but also, local institutions and media partners, civil society and communication experts dealing with European communication.
This, to implement and spread good practices in this field through public dissemination activities. To achieve this goal, Com4t.EU will
integrate teaching activities with several other initiatives: events, innovative workshops, and citizen engagement experiences.
Specifically, Com4t.EU aims to consolidate the presence of European public and political communication in European studies curricula,
through courses, workshops, and complementary activities as a way of strengthening cross-skills. Transversal skills are fundamental to
understand the complexity of the European system of rules and values.
The ultimate aim is to define an innovative academic curriculum tailored to European communication as a tool to train experts capable of
using digital resources and media literacy to promote innovation and strengthen the European identity.
