How Incentives Shape Decision-Making, Investments and Outcomes for Immigrants - Finanziamento dell’Unione Europea – NextGenerationEU – missione 4, componente 2, investimento 1.1.
Progetto Migrant assimilation is a major challenge for European countries both because of the large inflows of refugees in recent years and population aging which is encouraging these countries to allow more economic migration.
While a large literature examines the economic assimilation of migrants, few papers examine how incentives shape both the initial migration decision and future investments made by migrants, and how these incentives
influence outcomes for migrants and their children. However, ultimately, it is the decisions made by migrants in conjunction with the environment of the receiving countries that determine whether the integration process is
successful from both the migrant and receiving country perspective.
