Abstract:
The article provides the first critical edition of the contract signed by some of the most important publishing houses active in Venice at the beginning of the 16th century (1507). Battista and Silvestro Torti, already specialised in the publication of legal texts made an agreement with Lucantonio Giunta (among the most active publishers of the time, specialised in other kind of texts, such as liturgical books), and with Giorgio Arrivabene, Amadio Scoto and Antonio Moretto, with the purpose of realising a series of publication of legal texts, including all the most relevant jurists. The very idea, the details of the agreement, and the catalogue are illustrated to form the core of the article, which is based on the analysis of the contract and the identification of the authors mentioned in the text.
